For restaurants and stores

Lighting that sells the room.

We install the lighting and electrical behind dining rooms, bars and sales floors: pendants, coves, track lights and signs, wired for opening day and dimmed just right for service.

Who installs restaurant lighting in Toronto?

Kaion Energy Solutions Ltd. is a licensed electrical contractor that installs restaurant, bar and retail lighting across Toronto and the GTA: decorative pendants, LED coves and strips, track lighting, dimming and signs, along with the kitchen and equipment circuits behind them. We work with your designer and general contractor so the lighting goes in where the drawings show it.

Restaurants and bars

Rooms people remember.

Good restaurant lighting is layered: pendants you notice, coves you don't, and dimmers that take the room from lunch to late night.

Cocktail bar and restaurant

Mishree Cocktails & Cuisine

Woven pendants over the dining room, back-lit laser-cut screens at the host stand, and lighting worked into a layered slatted ceiling.

  • Decorative pendants hung to the designer's heights
  • Back-lit screens and feature lighting
  • Bar, canopy and sign lighting

Feature ceilings

Lit coves and LED strips

Curved bulkheads, oval ceilings and wave-shaped soffits, each with LED strip or pot lights built in during framing so the light looks like part of the architecture.

  • LED strip in coves and bulkheads
  • Pot lights set into curved ceilings
  • Power for neon and feature pieces

Quick-service restaurant

Blue Claw Lobster Shack

Blue pendants over a lit service counter, track lighting down the dining area, and bright, even light on the kitchen line.

  • Pendants and a lit counter front
  • Track lighting over the seating
  • Kitchen line and equipment circuits

Dining room

Open for service

Paper pendants under a woven ceiling, a painted vaulted ceiling lit for the evening, and lanterns that set the mood on a busy night.

  • Warm pendant lighting over booths
  • Dimming for lunch through late night

Restaurant and retail projects built with Imagine Work, with lighting and electrical by Kaion.

Retail and stores

Light that sells the product.

In a store, the lighting does the merchandising: track heads aimed at the shelves, pendants over the counter, and a storefront you can see from across the street.

Retail fit-outs

Sales floors and display walls

Track lighting along a curved sneaker wall, ring pendants behind gold laser-cut screens, and pendant spotlights over the counter run.

  • Track and spot lighting aimed at the product
  • Feature pendants and storefront lighting
  • Display and shelf lighting

What we light

From the sign out front to the walk-in.

Pendants and feature fixtures

Decorative fixtures hung at the right height, centred on the tables they light.

LED coves and strips

Hidden light in bulkheads, ceilings, bars and shelves, with drivers you can reach.

Track and display lighting

Heads aimed at the product, the art or the menu board.

Dimming and scenes

Dimmers matched to the LEDs, so the room dims smoothly without flicker or buzz.

Signs and storefronts

Sign circuits, canopy lights and timers, so you're open on the street.

Kitchen and back of house

Bright task light on the line, hood lights and the circuits behind the equipment.

How we work

With your designer and your GC.

Built to the drawings

Fixture locations, heights and switching as your designer laid them out.

Sample before we commit

We put up a sample fixture or strip so you see the colour and brightness first.

Opening day is the deadline

Rough-in, fixtures and inspection scheduled around the other trades.

Dimmers that actually dim

LED drivers and dimmers matched, tested and set before the soft opening.

Questions

Lighting questions from owners and designers.

Can you work from our designer's lighting plan?

Yes. We install to your designer's drawings, including fixture locations, mounting heights, switching and dimming, and flag anything that won't work before it goes up.

What colour temperature works best in a restaurant?

Most dining rooms look best around 2700K, a warm white, with dimming for evening service. Kitchens and prep areas need brighter, cooler light, around 4000K, so staff can see what they're doing.

Why do our LED lights flicker when they're dimmed?

Usually because the dimmer and the LED driver aren't compatible. We match dimmers to fixtures, or swap drivers, so lights dim smoothly without flicker or buzz.

Can you change our lighting while we stay open?

Yes. For upgrades and repairs we work before opening or after close, so you don't lose a service.
