Parking lot and exterior lighting
Parking lots and storefronts, lit after dark.
LED pole lights, wall packs, signs, bollards and walkway lights for plazas, stores and restaurants, with photocells and timers that switch on when they should.
Should we convert our parking lot lights to LED?
In most cases, yes. LED area lights use far less electricity than metal halide or high-pressure sodium fixtures, last many years longer, and come on at full brightness instantly. Often the existing poles and wiring can be reused, so only the fixture heads change.
What we light
Everything outside the front door.
Pole lights
New LED heads on existing poles, or new poles, bases and wiring.
Wall packs and soffits
Light along the building, the loading door and the back lane.
Signs and pylons
Plaza pylons and storefront signs, with their circuits and timers.
Bollards and walkways
Paths, patios and entrances, lit low so they're safe to walk.
Photocells and timers
Lights on at dusk and off at dawn, not burning all day.
Knocked-down poles
Made safe, rewired and replaced after a car finds one.
Walkways and grounds
Low lights that keep people on the path.
Bollards and post lights mark the way without glaring into windows. When a whole row goes dark, it's usually one underground fault, and we find it without digging up the whole walkway.
- Bollard and post-top lights repaired or replaced
- Underground faults traced and fixed
- Old fixtures converted to LED
Questions
Exterior lighting questions.
Are there incentives for LED parking lot lighting?
Sometimes. Ontario's Save on Energy programs have offered incentives for exterior lighting upgrades at commercial properties. Programs and amounts change, so we check what is open before you approve the work.
Why do our parking lot lights stay on during the day?
Usually a failed photocell, timer or contactor. We find the fault and fix it, and can switch you to an astronomical timer that follows sunrise and sunset through the year.
Can you repair a light pole that a car hit?
Yes. We make the area safe, disconnect and repair the wiring, and replace or reset the pole, base and fixture.
How long do LED parking lot lights last?
Quality LED fixtures are typically rated for 50,000 hours or more, which is over ten years of dusk-to-dawn use.
