EV chargers for dealerships
Charging for inventory, the service drive and deliveries.
Level 2 chargers to keep inventory and loaners charged, chargers in the bays for diagnostics and updates, and DC fast at the delivery bay. Planned around your manufacturer's EV program and the power your store has.
Who installs EV chargers for car dealerships in the GTA?
Kaion Energy Solutions Ltd., a licensed electrical contractor, installs and replaces Level 2 and DC fast EV chargers for car dealerships across the Greater Toronto Area. We plan chargers around your manufacturer's EV program, do the load study, help apply for government rebates, file with the ESA, install the chargers and maintain them.
Government rebates
Government rebates can pay for part of your chargers.
Federal and provincial governments, and some utilities, fund EV chargers at workplaces, fleets and public parking, which can include a dealership's customer and staff charging. Kaion keeps track of which programs are open, tells you what your store qualifies for, and prepares the technical side of the application.
Federal
Federal charger funding
Natural Resources Canada's Zero Emission Vehicle Infrastructure Program (ZEVIP) has covered up to 50% of eligible project costs for chargers at workplaces, fleets and public places. Funding is offered in intake rounds.
Provincial & utility
Ontario and utility programs
Ontario and local utilities run their own charging programs from time to time. When one opens, we check whether your project fits and how to apply.
Tax
Faster write-offs
Charging equipment bought by a business may qualify for faster tax write-offs. Your controller or accountant can confirm what applies to your store.
How Kaion helps you claim it
Funding applications ask for technical details most stores don't have on hand. We put them together for you.
Programs open and close during the year, and amounts and rules change between rounds. Most programs won't pay for equipment bought or work started before your project is approved, so talk to us before you order chargers. We confirm what's available for your site before you sign.

Where your store needs charging
Three jobs, three kinds of charging.
Sales
Inventory and demo lot
Level 2 chargers so every EV on the lot has range when a customer wants a test drive.
- Shared chargers with load management
- Pedestals placed where the lot porters need them
Fixed ops
Service bays
Chargers in or beside the bays for diagnostics, software updates and customer cars that come in empty.
- Wall-mounted units clear of hoists
- Circuits planned with your bay layout
Delivery
Delivery bay and customers
A DC fast charger so a sold car leaves full, and customers have a reason to come back.
- Sized to your store's power
- Public charging with payment, if you want it
Charger types
Level 2 or DC fast charging?
Most stores need both: Level 2 for the lot and the bays, and at least one DC fast charger for deliveries.
| Compare | Level 2 charger | DC fast charger |
|---|---|---|
| Power | About 7 to 19 kW | About 50 to 350 kW |
| Electrical supply | 208 or 240 V circuit | Three-phase power, usually 600 V |
| Charging speed | Adds roughly 30 to 60 km of range per hour | Can add roughly 150 to 300+ km in about 30 minutes |
| Best for | Inventory, demos, loaners, staff and service bays | Customer deliveries, quick top-ups and public charging |
| Electrical impact | Many can share existing capacity with load management | Often needs more capacity or a service upgrade |
Charging speeds are approximate and depend on the vehicle, the charger and the weather.
Manufacturer programs
Meeting your brand's EV requirements.
Most manufacturers ask their dealers to install chargers before they can sell or service EVs. We plan to the letter of your program so the review goes smoothly.
If the DC fast charger needs more power than the store has, we plan an electrical service upgrade alongside it.
What we plan to
- The number of Level 2 and DC fast chargers your program asks for
- Required power levels and approved charger models
- Charger locations in sales, service and the delivery area
- Photos, invoices and ESA paperwork for your program review
- Room to add chargers as your EV sales grow
How it works
From site walk to first charge.
Site walk
We walk the lot, bays and electrical room with your fixed ops director or GM, and review your program requirements.
Load study
We work out how much spare power the store has and what DC fast charging will need.
Rebates and design
We check open funding programs, choose the chargers and prepare drawings and an itemized quote.
Approvals
Dealer principal sign-off, funding approval where it applies, and the ESA notification.
Installation
Trenching, conduit and chargers, staged around sales events and service hours.
Commissioning and support
Network and payment setup, ESA inspection, then maintenance and repairs.
Questions
EV charger questions from dealerships.
Are there government rebates for EV chargers at dealerships?
Sometimes. Federal funding through Natural Resources Canada's Zero Emission Vehicle Infrastructure Program (ZEVIP) has covered up to 50% of eligible costs for chargers at workplaces, fleets and public places, and provincial and utility programs open from time to time. Eligibility depends on how the chargers will be used, so we check what is open for your store before you commit.
Should a dealership install Level 2 or DC fast chargers?
Most dealerships need both: Level 2 chargers to keep inventory and service vehicles charged, and at least one DC fast charger for customer deliveries and quick top-ups. We size the mix to your sales volume, your service department and your manufacturer's EV program requirements.
How many chargers does our manufacturer require?
It depends on the brand and your store's EV sales targets. Send us your manufacturer's facility or EV program requirements and we'll plan the charger count, power level and locations to meet them.
Can you install chargers without shutting down the service department?
Yes. We stage the work around service hours and book any power shutdown for when the store is closed.
Can you replace chargers another company installed?
Yes. We check the existing chargers and wiring, reuse what is in good shape, and replace the rest.
